Pedal AI — Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-15
These terms describe what you agree to when you use Pedal AI. They're written to be readable. If anything is unclear, email [email protected] before you use the service.
By using Pedal AI (the website at pedalai.bike, the iOS and Android apps, the API, and any related services), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.
1. Who can use Pedal AI
You can use Pedal AI if:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You're not banned by us for prior abuse (we'll tell you if you are).
Pedal AI is in beta and offered as-is. We may suspend, disable, or remove access for any account at any time, with or without notice.
2. What you can do
Use Pedal AI for personal cycling route planning. Plan rides for yourself, save them, share them with friends, ride them, and tell us what was wrong. A free tier is available; an optional paid subscription (Pedal AI Pro) unlocks additional features (see Section 7).
3. What you can't do
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Pedal AI's output (route data, briefs, etc.) as part of a product or service.
- Scrape, crawl, mass-download, or use automated tools to extract data from the service.
- Submit prompts designed to cause harm, abuse, harass, or deceive others.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the routing algorithm or extract our pre-baked map data.
- Use the service to violate any law, Strava's terms, or OpenStreetMap's license (ODbL).
- Impersonate another person or their Strava account.
4. AI-generated suggestions are suggestions
Pedal AI uses an automated routing engine and an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to suggest cycling routes. These suggestions are not professional advice and may contain mistakes. The routing engine works from OpenStreetMap data, which is community-maintained and not always current.
You are responsible for your own safety on the road. Specifically:
- Verify routes before you ride them. We try to avoid heavy traffic, but local knowledge beats any algorithm.
- Obey all traffic laws, signage, and trail rules in your jurisdiction.
- Wear a helmet, ride with lights, use bike lanes where required, etc.
- Do not follow turn-by-turn directions while looking at a phone in motion.
- If a suggested road looks unsafe in person, don't ride it. Trust your eyes, not our map.
We are not liable for any injury, accident, property damage, or other harm that occurs while you ride a route Pedal AI suggested. The standard "use at your own risk" applies, and applies hard.
5. Accuracy and availability
Pedal AI is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties — express or implied — about:
- The accuracy or completeness of routes, briefs, distance estimates, time estimates, traffic predictions, surface predictions, or coffee shop recommendations.
- The service being uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
- The compatibility with any specific device, browser, or OS.
Features may change. The service may go down without warning. Your saved routes may occasionally be lost if we have to restore from backups.
6. Your account and data
You can use Pedal AI without an account — we keep an anonymous ID on your device so you can return and still see your saved routes and preferences. That data is tied to the device; if you clear local data without an account, it can be lost.
If you create an account (email and password, or "Continue with Google"), we store your email and display name so your saved routes and preferences sync across your devices. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing [email protected]. What we store and who processes it is described in our Privacy Policy.
If you connect Strava, the OAuth token and inferred preferences we store are described in the Privacy Policy. You can disconnect anytime at https://www.strava.com/settings/apps and email us to also delete your stored preferences.
7. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation
Pedal AI offers an optional paid subscription, Pedal AI Pro. The core experience is free; Pro unlocks additional features.
- Plans & price. Pro is offered at $4.99/month or $39.99/year (USD). Prices may change in the future; we'll give notice and any change applies to your next renewal, never retroactively.
- Free trial. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends. Cancel any time before it ends and you won't be charged at all.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) and your payment method is charged via Stripe, until you cancel.
- How to cancel. Cancel any time via "Manage subscription" in your profile (which opens the Stripe customer portal) or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro until then, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If something went wrong, email us — we're a small team and we'll try to make it right.
- Payments processor. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number; see the Privacy Policy.
- Cross-platform. If you subscribe on the web, your Pro features work on both the web and the mobile apps when you sign in with the same account.
8. Your content
Anything you submit through Pedal AI (prompts, saved route names, feedback) remains yours. By submitting it you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it to operate and improve the service — including running it through Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses, and analyzing it to make routing better.
We will not publish your prompts, sell them, or share them with anyone outside the providers listed in the Privacy Policy.
9. Strava data
Your Strava data is governed by Strava's own terms and Pedal AI's Privacy Policy. We use it only to personalize your routes. We never re-share it.
Pedal AI is a third-party app built on top of Strava's API. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava.
10. Intellectual property
- Pedal AI's code, design, branding, and routing algorithm belong to Rocco Guaragno.
- OpenStreetMap data used for routing is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). We comply with that license and require you to as well if you redistribute route data.
- Routes generated for you are yours to use however you like for personal purposes. Don't redistribute them as part of a commercial product without checking with us.
11. Termination
You can stop using Pedal AI at any time by closing the app, canceling any active subscription (Section 7), disconnecting Strava, and/or deleting your account.
We can suspend or terminate your access to Pedal AI at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. In practice we'd only do this for clear abuse — we'll usually email first. If we terminate your access without cause while you have a paid subscription, we'll refund the unused, prepaid portion.
Sections 4 (safety), 5 (no warranty), 12 (liability), and 15 (governing law) survive termination.
12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Pedal AI and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.
- Nothing in this section limits liability for things that can't be limited by law — gross negligence, willful misconduct, etc.
This limitation applies even if a remedy fails its essential purpose.
13. App Store apps (Apple)
If you downloaded the Pedal AI app from the Apple App Store, you also acknowledge:
- These terms are between you and Pedal AI (Rocco Guaragno) only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
- To the extent any warranty applies and the app fails to conform, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund any purchase price you paid for the app; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, regulatory, or third-party intellectual-property claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-parties list.
14. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and try to notify account holders by email. Continuing to use Pedal AI after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be settled in the state or federal courts of Denver County, Colorado.
